I had my first proper exam yesterday. English combined as, 2 and a quarter hours. It didn't go so well. My head is a battleground of "IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER, IT'S JUST AN EXAM" and "oh sigh oh sigh tears oh sigh". My mind in exams just goes completely blank. I could be very very very very clever and still I'd start the exam a blank minded fumbling mess, which I did. (plus nerve bitten lips that started bleeding half way through). So I came home and did some painting and drawing to cheer myself up:
I also dug out Pink Floyd because "WE DON'T NEED NO EDUCATION". The album art is so pretty.
I thought that maybe if I'd used my revision time better, I could have come out feeling happier having done a lot better, my bed was used a lot during my first days of study leave. But it's not even that. I read the book, I knew the key terms it's the stupid exam papers. The examiners have to word the questions in such silly ways to try and catch people out, and it's never the things you're expecting that come up.
(bed appreciation and exam non appreciation moment)
This is my revision technique anyway:
This is a small taste of a revision playlist, and the songs that reoccur in the exams:
My thoughts on exams angstly (is that a word?) scribbled down afterwards:
Anyway, It's not the end of the world that I did badly. OR IF YOU DID. This post is about you!!!
GOODLUCK TO ANYONE WHO HAS EXAMS, NO MATTER WHAT AGE YOU ARE! AND NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU DO I'M NOT SURE IT REALLY MATTERS BECAUSE EXAMS DO NOT REFLECT ANYTHING ABOUT YOU REALLY APART FROM THE WAY YOU CONFORM TO DUMB QUESTIONS.
And for anyone who is starting a college or new school soon, I have even done some tips for you:
Anyway, exams are disgusting so that's enough about them.
This week I have been really enjoying zine making, and zine reading.
I made a zine for my friend Emma wishing her goodluck with all the exams she's doing, and I can't stop reading the zine Flower exchanged with me.
Isn't it cute!
Fashion wise study leave and exam wear has been SLOB STYLE who wants to turn up to an exam in something fancy? So I've been pulling out cardis and shirts and really nothing special. But to cheer myself up I've been doing little sequin collars on my shirts, and with no effort at all and a much easier way to a cute collar- OLD EARRING STUDS!
so simple and you can swap and switch yay! I hardly ever wear stud earrings and most of mine haven't been used so I'm going to get them out as an excuse
When I was looking for studs I found the above that I'd lost and they brought a smile to my face! Mmm.
LAST THING (I'm aware of how long and dull my posts are). I've listened to the whole of Grimes's album "Visions" and it's very odd and SHE COPIED MY SEQUIN LOOK which has only ended up with my Dad referring to me as "Grimes". Great.
GOODLUCK again with any exams you have, and remember EXAMS SUCK.

This post is really A+-I love your outfits, zines and the things about exams!I had a science exam the other day,and I was well prepared for it,but nothing we revised/learned actually came up on the exam, which is so dumb!
ReplyDeleteI have some exams next year. I'm not looking forward to it. I hate exam questions that you will probably never need to know the answer to ever in life again ever. I wish I was so good at making zines- they look amazing!
ReplyDeleteEXAMS SUCK AND PEOPLE JUDGE YOU IF YOU GET AN F AND THEY DON'T SHARE FOOD DURING THE LUNCH IT SUCKSSSS
ReplyDeletei love your zine, nobody ever makes me one -.-
stud earrings make such nice collar decorations! I once made a brooch out of 20 studs maybe.
:)
I love your zine. I wish more people still did this. Loving your revision playlist and those licorice allsort earrings. Goes off to try and find liorice allsort jewellery...
ReplyDeletegreat minds think alike! exams are lame, it takes like 87% of my concentration not to spend the whole 2 hours daydreaming & staring at other people's shoes. the collars look WIKKID, as does your zine! v. cute xxx
ReplyDeleteI find English exams unbelievably exhausting. By some fluke I have come top in the entire year for year 7 & 8 and now I know I am going to fail this year and the teacher will be really upset and oh shit.
ReplyDeleteMy exams aren't even GCSEs or anything, but they will decree my end of year grades and what sets I am in for some topics next year which scares me slightly. The last two years we have had half term before exams, and an hour revison slot before each exams and NOW THEY HAVE MOVED HALF TERM FORWARD AND GOT RID OF ALL THE FRIKKIN REVISION SLOTS AND OH SHIT.
sorry to be forever using your comments section for whining.
I really wish I had chosen drama for GCSE now though, but if i get the remaining slot I won't be with anyone I know and it will be depressing and mrrudfhdvbj\l|.
still, i am treating myself to another piercing after exams though.
still whing. shut up. i need to revise.
the sequins look lovely, I still need to try it out.
i will shut up now and revise.
xxxxxx
you have the best sequins, I want some half as cool. Love the collars you made with them and the earrings, it's really clever and cool! And I love Visions, I listened to it for like three weeks straight. Sorry about your sad exams though :(
ReplyDeleteI don't have to do exams until next year, and I normally like tests cause I am weird. They should give you an A + for zine making alone. I like your drawings too.
ReplyDeleteCarla
Ahh, ALL of this! Exams are the worst, trick questions are so unfair :( Good luck with them all though, i'm sure you have done just fine! I love the illustrations and using earrings on collars is a super cool idea. Grimes definitely ripped you off-THIEF!
ReplyDeletexxxx
Haha, I have the same thoughts running through my mind! I always think everything on the test is such bullsh*t and doesn't actually test my intelligence. So then I get really angry during tests and in my mind, I start singing songs to calm myself down. D:
ReplyDeleteYour collars look SO GROOVY, as does that zine. I love the college survival tips, and the 'eat healthy lunches' made me actually laugh out loud! Love it xx
ReplyDeleteHiya! I'm your latest follower, you're the greatest. This is such a weird quirky but totally amazing blog haha definitely looking forward to reading more and seeing more of your drwaings and stuff :)
ReplyDeleteGrimes is some awesome music, I just recently discovered it!
