I like to pretend I'm in a movie, dress up late at night, roll down hills and make zines.

“You can tell a lot from a person's nails. When a life starts to unravel, they're among the first to go.”

A post not very me, but I thought I'd slap out my collection of photos of funky nails I've done in the past year. Mixed emotions looking back, because I currently have no nails. Not totally nothing at all, but I do bite them, and it's a habit I hate. Quite frankly it's disgusting, but what with boredom and stress, it just becomes second nature. Anyway, if you do have nails, here's some things I've done to spice them up in the past...
White polish, with dried pressed rose petals, red dots and a clear varnish over the top.
My most recent nails- clear and coloured with funny little pictures of things, and little flowers.
Gather up some sequins- flatter smaller ones are best, stick them down onto a thicker coat of varnish..
Here I also added pressed eyeshadow, which got everywhere at the time and looked much nicer the next day....
Pale pink varnish with a dusting of glitter- the easiest thing to do. These were my Christmas time nails...

Blue glitter nails..
And my personal favourite, a white varnish with little doodles on the top.

Also if you want nail ideas the best thing to do is put "..........insert what you like.......... nail art" into Google.

Is there anything special you do with your nails?
(Or any tips about nail biting you can give me)
(I know I'm gross)

  1. these nails are so cool! also, about the nail biting, perhaps you start doing it because you have a little hangnail or something, or a chip and you want to "smooth" it out? That's what I used to do anyways. I recommend keeping a nail file with you all the time. Filing and picking at your nails with it can become just as addictive as nail biting, but is much more... clean, I guess. Good luck!

    1. Thankyou!! I will try and keep a nail file with me more! Thankyou, I'm really sick of biting them.

  2. I'm terrible with my nails - they're always bitten right down and the skin around them always ends up getting chewed too. It sounds horrible but it's been my bad habit ever since I can remember and I never seem to be able to stop! I tried this thing called Stop n Grow which was like a clear varnish you pain on but it has a really bitter taste which is supposed to put you off biting them. It worked for a bit but I soon got used to the taste! They tend to grow in the holidays when I paint them pretty colours and I kept them long and unbitten all over Easter but as soon as I got back to school and the exam stress started I couldn't help myself! It's definitely a boredom thing for me too. I love this first shot - I think the idea of sprinkling pressed rose petals into your nails is beautiful; like something a character would have done in a richly costumed production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. xx

i bite my nails too, really badly and i wish i could paint them but my head of house is paranoid about it and goes through a litre of polish remover a term and basically just waits for me on the first day back from holidays with cotton wool to force me to clean it off :(
    but still. too epic.

  4. these nails are TOO cool for words oh my giddy god gosh. I bite my nails as well and they always look horrible and the next day I want to paint them and I'm like oh crap it's gonna look horrible. I also can't paint them very well, I always get it all over my fingers. Please fly over to Canada so you can be my personal fingernail painter??? Your ideas are so beautiful and artistic! I try to make pretty designs, but fail. Lovin' every bit!

  5. I don't think i am skilled enough to do my nails like this:) I absolutely love the last ones and the second ones. I used to bite my nails too, I just got a different habit, that's the trick. But now i crack my fingers all the time, which lots of people find gross as well. We're not allowed nail polish at school, but still i know a girl who keeps three nail polishes in her pencil case!

  6. I don't tend to do anything extravagant with my nails. I mostly just paint them a solid color to match my mood and plan out what type of clothing I want to wear that week. However, I do like to do bright or odd colors most of the time and occasionally, I'll do a top coat of glitter. I really like your idea of putting petals on your nails! ^^
