I like to pretend I'm in a movie, dress up late at night, roll down hills and make zines.

D-d-d-david Bowie is 65 today.

I adore David Bowie, I almost always have done. I can so clearly remember bouncing about to him performing "Starman" on an old recording of Top Of The Pops when I was only a little thing. Over the years I've managed to borrow *cough* steal all my parents vinyls and tapes with him on, they were lucky enough to see him in concert, and for only a few pounds. In fact I have memories of enjoying Bowie's music from nearly every year of my life.

Not just musically, but everything he does is very adaptable, he has so many different styles to suit different people and generations. The lyrics are timeless in some of his songs.
And he's a cracking actor, as said at Christmas, his introduction to The Snowman gets me in tears right away.
Something else I love about him is the intense dedication he had for his music, the effort he put in.. and the costumes and makeup.
This year I thought, I just have to tell him how much I love him, so I have written him a letter, I'm not sure whether to send it though or whether he would actually get it. (I did pick the first address Google gave me). But I even put in the letter, that I don't mind if he doesn't get it. I send him Christmas cards, but they go under my bed instead. It's just special for me to write to him more than him receiving. I just prefer in a way the idea of the letter floating about in a "Space Oddity" type scenario.

This will sound totally bonkers now (but don't all my posts), but Bowie has been especially helpful with me starting sixthform. Who needs friends when I can have him singing about Andy Warhol to me. I'm not the most confident of people, and looking down to see one of my heroes on a tshirt really helps me carry on with life.

So Thankyou David Bowie. Thankyou for helping me, inspiring me, creating awe inspiring music.. The list is endless.

JOIN WITH ME NOW TO SING HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

65 today. Hehe, just imagine him going to pick up his pension. aw.

Oh and I've done this playlist of my top 15 songs (it was so hard to pick), incase anyone hasn't yet delved into Bowie and needs somewhere to start off, or just if anyone wants to see my faves.
